Kathleen Russo is a veteran of New York City’s indie music scene, with a songwriting catalog that spans decades. Even as life led her toward family and a professional career, her creative spirit never waned—she continued to compose, adding dozens of songs to her body of work. Now, after a several-year hiatus, Kathleen has returned to her craft with renewed purpose.
Her music defies easy categorization, shaped by a wide spectrum of influences—from Dave Brubeck and Joni Mitchell to Johann Sebastian Bach. Just as varied are the inspirations behind her compositions: “Discord” is her response to the war in Ukraine and global political unrest; “Pacific Kaleidoscope” seeks to capture the fleeting colors and moods of a sunset; “Better Angels” reflects her enduring hope for humanity; and “When We Were Young” pays tribute to a dear friend with Alzheimer’s.
Kathleen is grateful to have returned to creating music and for the opportunity to reach a wide audience. She is delighted to share with you the work of her lifetime.
