Kathleen Russo is a New York–based composer whose music bridges genres with a singular focus: melody as storytelling. Drawing from jazz, rock, neo-classical, and contemporary instrumental traditions, she creates expressive, cinematic pieces that evoke emotion.
A veteran of New York City’s indie music scene, Kathleen began her career performing in the band Changes, managed by Noel Monk—whose roster included iconic acts such as Van Halen, ABBA, and Sex Pistols. While her path later expanded to include family life and a professional career outside of music, her dedication to composition never faded. Over the years, she continued to write, quietly building a substantial and deeply personal catalog.
After a period away from active release, Kathleen has returned to her music with renewed focus and clarity.
Her current work reflects both experience and rediscovery—balancing sophistication with accessibility, and structure with feeling. Influenced by artists as diverse as Dave Brubeck, Joni Mitchell, and Johann Sebastian Bach, Kathleen’s compositions resist easy categorization. Instead, they are unified by a consistent voice: melodic, evocative, and emotionally resonant.
Now actively sharing her work, Kathleen Russo brings a lifetime of musical perspective to a growing audience—offering instrumental music that connects, reflects, and endures.
